How it all started as a DJ
Ever since I can remember, I had never been enthusiastic about getting up to go to school. My mother would come into my room in the morning, and I would just be sitting there writing. She always thought that I was doing my homework but what I was doing is writing music. I used to write a lot of music but I was never good at rap or singing so I would most of the time just end up tearing the pages and throwing them away.
At school, I would just stare at the teacher blankly because I would never understand what they were saying but I tried to fit in. As I got to high school, my interest in music took a turn for the best. My music teacher was one gentleman that I would always be grateful for because of what he made me. By then I had known that I would never amount to anything as far as education was concerned and with each passing exam, my mom became convinced that college was something that I’d never get to.
I began spending more time in music class.
Music class, however, was the best time while I was in school. My teacher saw how much I was interested in it and got to teach me at least almost all the instruments that were there. I was performing quite excellently in this class, and my teacher got my mother to come to school and talk to her about a possible music career. I have never seen so much pride in my mom’s eyes before, and I knew then that I had to make it in music no matter what.
I learned a lot of instruments over a very short period, and the more I did, the more my teacher loved me. I joined the school band and after a while, I was even composing music for them. It was a great feeling, and I got to be recognized in the school for this. It was a new feeling that I had never been used to. Becoming popular in school and I had to come up with a lot of music for a lot of events in the school was just something I had never dreamt about.
Finally Starting My Dream Job
When I was in my final year of high school, my mom bought me this second-hand turntable that was barely working but I have never been happier in my life. I began making my music that was good, and I could mix a lot of stuff and sell to kids at the park or in school. I would go to the skate park with my boombox and just sit there with my tapes playing the music that I had mixed and people would love it.
I got to raise enough money to buy this new set of turntables, and I knew that my career as a full-time DJ had started. By the time I was through with high school, I was getting offers from some major clubs in the city to perform. Of course, it had to be done under the supervision of an adult because I was still underage to be in a club so my uncle would tag along.
After high school, I was performing at massive events, and I became a household name in my city. This quickly grew into the country, and I was making a lot of money ad always on the road touring or being invited to major events. I have traveled around the world with some of the best DJs, some I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would get to see. Having shared the stage with so many artists than I can count, it has always been exhilarating to see a twenty thousand strong crowd brave any weather just waiting for you.
All this, however, was thanks to one man who saw the dream in me and transformed it into a reality that got me recognized and loved. I got to build my successful music production company that is now worth billions. The teacher is retired now, but I always get to visit him whenever I can, and we do some boat fishing because he is also like a father figure to me as I never got to know my real father.
